Forum | Japan Guide | Instant Message

Posted at 12:36 PM on December 06, 2009

Hey everyone.

Here to make a quick announcement of some new features that where on standby which have recently been applied during current updates of the site still in progress.

Earlier today a forum and Japan Guide where added to the site. I encourage people to check out the forum and post something to help get it going, for I know since this wasn't done when it should of been (when the site launched 1.5yr ago) that it could easily fail and fall apart from the site.

At the least, if your intested in going to Japan someday to live there, I recommend you check it to view the Japan Guide which has information on employment, housing, medical, visas, and more. And keep an eye out on it as it will be updated over time.

Also recently added was the instant messaging system. You can instant message members on the site by using the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, and the options to the far right. Simply sign in and you can send a message to any offline member or chat with one online.

You can also set the app so you can talk with anyone you know on AIM, Facebook, and more while your here on the site by creating a Meebo ID.

Updates In Progress

Posted at 08:34 AM on November 15, 2009

Wanting to give the announcement of updates currently in progress and will be taking
effect over time for the couple of weeks.

     Anime Page Upgrades -

This was just recently planned and just started to take effect on the site. These changes are dedicated to the anime page listings, not a given animes content. (Anime Pages are accessed though the A-Z on main page.)

The current pages, which conclude of usually a intro video and photoshop tags to it's specific content on the site are being upgraded to include more information, such as:

*# of episodes in series

*Publisher, liscensor, director, etc

*Characters

*Character bios

*Plot

*Games of selected anime

ETC

There will also be a change to the style in which anime are listed in the Anime A-Z listing. Some upgraded pages may also receive a new avatar for their listing and new photoshop tags in its page.

Ai Yori Aoshi is the first (not finished in its upgrade) to recieve these changes.

     100 Episodes Coming -

As you may of noticed, the content from FLAveoh is being applied here on the site in the Media section.

Around 100 episodes are planned to be shifted from the sites external profile and applied here directly, including some movies.
One
(Naruto: Ninja Clash In The Land Of Snow) which has already been applied for view or download.

These videos are tagged as FLAv and is marked on the videos avatar. These require the Veoh Web player in order to watch completely. A download for it will be made available from the site here soon.

Naturally. The videos coming from the sites external profile these videos will also be bundled. EP (Episode) used in the standard Divx files are used here with periods E.P. (Episode Pack)

     Media Changes -

With the income of the new FLAv media, some of the older videos here on the site are going to be restored to new standards. Since FLAv content run at 360i (unless its a special upload), majority of the 360i Divx played videos on the site are going to be deleted and remade at a higher resolution. This will also include higher audio resolutions, video bitrate, etc.
This is being done to prevent having duplicates of the same video with the same specs. Again, the Veoh played episodes will run at 360i with pre-set specs, and the Divx will simply run at a higher resolution with higher specs then the Veoh.

This Video Is Not A Divx Video -

This error is currently being addressed as they updates are applied. Just wanting to note again that I'm aware of it. It appears to be dedicated to just the OP videos, but if anyone has this error with a full episode file please report the error.

"This Video Is Not A Divx Video" Error

Posted at 05:56 AM on October 30, 2009

Changes

Posted at 07:17 PM on October 26, 2009

Hey viewers.

Some changes have been made and a notice about future changes has was sent out a few days ago and I'm going to recap on them.

I'm going to begin with the bigger of the list and that is the information that was sent out recently, which is a possible change to take place, maybe in December, which will be the ability to upload content among the site though your member account. You will be able to upload images and videos with no content restrictions, as long as it is anime. (Hentai, Futanari, Lolicon, etc allowed)

You will be able to upload directly from your hard drive or embed from external sources which will allow for no restrictions in any manner (external). You can transfer videos from your Youtube, Veoh, etc accounts directly to your profile here with no restrictions on content or specs, such as length or file size.

As for spec restrictions with direct uploads, that is undecided. The only one so far is limiting videos to 30 minutes, but that may be increased closer to the time this ability may launch.

Content will be attached to your profile where viewers can view all uploads you've made or filter your content and view by animes in which you have uploaded in. Comments will be allowed on content.

This will be free to begin with, then may require a small fee to help keep everything going ($1-2/ month). If a fee is ever attached then free trails will be allowed.

More information will be given out after additional testing.

Again, this is just a current idea and testing and is subject to delay or cancel.

Now the some of the stuff now in effect.

Returns viewers may of realized that the main page has been altered in its organization some. This change was made to some of the hotlink tags to reflect upon their importance, as in the games tag was shrunk and fitted to the side since its not a really popular use yet, while the information app was expanded into its old position.

A chat has also been added down at the bottom of the page which interacts with others viewing on the site and those on external apps.

Basically right now the site is in a cleanup effect to try to further improve user-friendliness by simplifying some things and expanding in more details on others, so expect some changes and improvements to other pages in the near future.

American Studio Sues Over Old Boy

Posted at 02:17 PM on October 18, 2009

An unspecified American production company has reportedly filed suit in Tokyo District Court against Japanese publisher Futabasha and Old Boy manga creators Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi.

The American plaintiff claims to have signed a contract with Futabasha for exclusive rights to produce a cinematic adaptation of the Old Boy manga.
The American producer began work on an animated adaptation of the manga in 2007, but stopped work after learning that Futabasha had previously sold Old Boy adaptation rights to Korean studio Show East, which produced director Park Chan-Wook?s 2003 live-action Old Boy movie.
The American plaintiff claims that the agreement between Futabasha & Show East was still in effect when the American contract was signed, thus Futabasha did not actually have the authority to negotiate a valid American licensing contract at the time.

The Sankei News reports that Futabasha has admitted some oversight, but claims that the contract signed with the American studio was valid at the time it was signed; therefore Futabasha is not responsible for the American studio?s decision to stop development of its animated adaptation. The American plaintiff is seeking 245.7 million yen (US $2.74 million) in compensation for its uncompleted work.
